We all know the generic tips such as that Mailchimp is great for sending newsletters. This post isn’t about that. It’s about the must-know tools for marketers that will make life easier, that most aren’t aware of.
1. Tracking of Links
A traditional link gives you no data.
There’s no way track where it came from, what location it was accessed from, what day it was opened on, or the device it was accessed from.
That means that you have no crucial data regarding how people interact with your links, and thus can’t optimize their placing within a website or a post to maximize clicks.
This is where Bitly comes in as one of the most know tools for marketers.
With Bitly, instead of posting a standard link, you turn it into a short URL under the bit.ly handle. And that’s it.
Of course, if you want to take that feature further, their premium package allows you to use your own domain.
How do we use it? Well, if you ended up on our post because of LinkedIn, we know about it. 😉
2. Tracking of Emails🕵(Our Favorite of Marketing Tools for Marketers)
What do you do in your company as a marketer?
You send a ton of emails, right?
But when you press on that “SEND” button, you don’t know anything.
What if you could right away write more effective emails because you had data over which links do better than others?
How much of a difference would that make?
This is where MailTag comes in as an email tracker and a tool for sending automatic follow-ups.
An average worker receives over 100 emails per day. Marketing, it’s a ton more.
Product Review Request…Collaboration…I would love to work with you…
You know how it is.
Why not know what’s going on right away?
MailTag is also a great extension for tracking if you are sending enough emails per day.
3. Using Labels
Did you ever receive that important email that you didn’t see for the 3 days because it got lost with the other emails?
One way to avoid this situation is by using labels in Gmail or G Suite.
You can’t miss what’s already separated.
If you have a special label for all your important contacts, you will right away see the right emails first.
…Not to mention that labels help you keep emails from people of importance in the right place.
Here’s how to set them up:
- In your Gmail/G Suite, press on the ⚙️icon followed by pressing on Settings.
- Press on Filters and Blocked Addresses.
- Click on Create a New Filter.
- In the “from” section of the email, input the email of your important recipient.
- Press on Create Filter.
- Next, click on the Apply the Label selection and create a new label.
- Lastly, press on the ” Also apply filter to x matching conversations” section and create your filter.
Just like that, you have created a label system in Gmail and G Suite.
If you work on quite a few projects and need to sort things better together, labels are how you do that.
4. Undo Email up to 30 Seconds
Ever sent that catastrophic email? That one email there was no way back from?
We often start thinking about the next task while still in the same task, and it can sometimes result in mistakes.
Spelling? You might get away with it depending on your email recipient.
…Aspects like the wrong name? There’s no coming back from that.
And this is where the undo email feature can come in as a lifesaver.
…Of course, it’s already available in Gmail. But only for 5 seconds. This method will make it available for up to 30 seconds.
- In your Gmail/G Suite, click on the ⚙️icon followed by pressing on Settings.
- Now, while in the General settings, you will see an undo tab. Change it from 5 to 30 seconds.
This is an incredibly easy to apply email feature that most never see because we simply never go into the settings of our email accounts.
5. Eliminate Distractions
What’s the one thing you can’t get more of?
If you don’t get enough done in a day, that drags onto the next, and the next, creating a forever overloaded workload.
That’s why it’s so crucial to get everything you are meant to get done today, today.
Part of the reason we often never accomplish all our tasks is because we underestimate how much time they will take, but the other is because we get distracted, too often.
It only takes 1 distraction every 23 minutes to never be in full focus when working.
We get excited about that email we opened that perhaps we could have left until later on, or even better, decide to watch an episode of our fav Netflix show because “we will do the work later.”
That’s where applications like Cold Turkey come in.
Cold Turkey allows you to block out everything you want to use and shouldn’t be using, at the times you should be working.
Features like daily time allowances as well as an ability to create a schedule with blocking times, allows you to create a schedule that you can stick to (because nothing else will work) and that might make all the difference for you!
6. Use Voice to Write Better & Convert Voice Meetings into Text
Spend a lot of time writing things out?
You don’t have to.
One of the must-know tools for marketers that will make your life easier is Otter which is the most advanced voice to text app that works with the help of AI.
Not only is it able to figure who is speaking, but it’s also able to figure out what you were saying when it didn’t sound right.
7. Track What You Do
Whether you work in an office or remotely, tracking what you do will make your life easier.
For two reasons.
- You will know much work things take so you don’t overestimate, allowing you to make schedules you can stick to.
- You will stick to work much better because you will feel guilty otherwise.
Time tracking is one of the most powerful ways to get yourself to do work.
As it puts pressure that you might not otherwise have, to get your work done.
It’s like someone is looking at you.
This is where Clockify comes in as an awesome extension!
8. Use Email Signatures
Email signatures are one of the forgotten pillars of emails.
They are where the picture and all the links about someone are.
That’s what builds trust.
Are you currently using email signatures when sending your emails?
There are so many great (and free) tools for marketers for this.
9. Fix Your Writing
While the importance of correct writing both spelling wise and grammar wise will depend on the company you are working with and who you are reaching out to, overall, keeping a great level of communication builds trust.
This is where Grammarly comes in as a tool that utilizes AI to fix your mistakes.
And perhaps this is a super useful tool if you aren’t native in English and make mistakes at the time. Grammarly will help you learn, and make you better.
